openings
the nair lab is recruiting experimental neuroscientists and computational scientists, across all levels, to work on understanding the neural basis of affect and emotion. we are looking for ambitious individuals who are team players.
please contact Dr. Nair if you would like to know more about these positions.
computational / AI positions
-
we are seeking talented individuals with a background in computer science, neuroscience, or psychology to lead the development and application of machine learning approaches for understanding neural activity and behavior.
projects will involve dynamical modeling of neural activity, computer vision models for behavior, and deep learning models to extract neural circuit mechanisms.
applicants are expected to have strong programming skills and a working knowledge of common deep learning frameworks (such as pytorch).
-
the nair lab is seeking ambitious individuals to embark on a NeuroAI PhD at LKCMedicine, NTU.
the lab has fully-funded (four year) positions under the LKCMedicine PhD Program in neuroscience and mental health. positions in the lab are highly competitive and applicants will need to reach out to Dr. Nair with their CV directly to be considered.
NTU also offers prestigious PhD fellowships, including:
Dr. Nair will also consider students interested in the NTU-Karolinksa Institute PhD scholarship.

the nair lab is seeking ambitious individuals to embark on projects in neuroAI.
applicants must possess a phd or be nearing the completion of their doctoral program. we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds including neuroscience, computer science, applied physics and engineering.
the lab has funded positions available, but applicants are also encouraged to apply for competitive postdoctoral fellowships, including:
Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI for Science Postdoctoral Fellowship
LKCMedicine Deans Postdoctoral Fellowship
Note that each fellowship has its own set of guidelines, and applicants are advised to review their eligibility before reaching out.
-
we are happy to host NTU students, as well as students from local institutions in Singapore, under attachment programs and for final-year projects. the lab places a strong emphasis on mentorship and career development and is deeply committed to fostering the next generation of scientists. Dr. Nair himself was previously an undergraduate intern at LKCMedicine and has mentored numerous students across NUS, Caltech and Stanford.
for computational projects, we expect students to be proficient in python, Matlab and common deep learning frameworks.
undergraduate students from overseas institutions can apply to work in the lab through a few select programs, including:

we are seeking talented individuals with a background in life sciences, neuroscience, or psychology to support systems neuroscience projects aimed at understanding the neural basis of affective states in mice.
projects will involve microendoscopic neural imaging and high-density electrophysiology (neuropixels) in freely moving mice.
applicants are expected to have strong wet-lab skills and, preferably, experience working with mice. prior experience with stereotaxic surgery and in-vivo mouse experiments will be highly advantageous.
