team
the nair lab is collective of computer scientists, engineers and biologists who collaborate very closely to answer fundamental questions at the intersection of neuroscience, AI safety and alignment.
research engineers
B.S Computer Science, Harvey Mudd, Caltech Schmidt Scholar
Nestor Coria
Nestor is originally from California and completed his undergraduate degree at Harvey Mudd College. He worked at Caltech for two years as a Schmidt Scholar, a highly selective program aimed at improving software engineering in research labs. At the Nair lab, Nestor develops AI co-scientists who can help accelerate the pace of neuroscience research.
B.S Psychology, Ahmedabad Uni., Caltech SURF
Pushkar Singh
Pushkar completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology with Prof. Rama Ratnam at Ahmedabad University. He completed a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) at Caltech in 2025 and soon after joined the Nair Lab. Pushkar combines his interests in neuroscience and AI by creating new platforms and studying multi-region control of affect.
JiaQie studied Computer Science at UC Berkeley and worked at the Helen Willis Institute for Neuroscience for three years, studying patterns of neural activity in EEG and fMRI data using AI methods. She is co-advised by Prof. Cuntai Guan and creates foundation models of subcortical brain regions towards translation.

the nair lab is seeking ambitious individuals to embark on projects at the intersection of systems and computational neuroscience.
applicants must possess a phd or be nearing the completion of their doctoral program. we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds, and the successful applicant will gain training in ai techniques as well as cutting-edge systems neuroscience tools, including large-scale neural recording.
the lab has funded positions available, but applicants are also encouraged to apply for competitive postdoctoral fellowships, including:
Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI for Science Postdoctoral Fellowship
LKCMedicine Deans Postdoctoral Fellowship
Note that each fellowship has its own set of guidelines, and applicants are advised to review their eligibility before reaching out.
-
we are seeking talented individuals with a background in life sciences, neuroscience, or psychology to support systems neuroscience projects aimed at understanding the neural basis of affective states in mice.
projects will involve microendoscopic neural imaging and high-density electrophysiology (neuropixels) in freely moving mice.
applicants are expected to have strong wet-lab skills and, preferably, experience working with mice. prior experience with stereotaxic surgery and in-vivo mouse experiments will be highly advantageous.

the nair lab is seeking ambitious individual to embark on a systems neuroscience PhD at LKCMedicine, NTU.
the lab has fully-funded (four year) positions under the LKCMedicine PhD Program in neuroscience and mental health. positions in the lab are highly competitive and applicants will need to reach out to Dr. Nair with their CV directly to be considered.
NTU also offers prestigious PhD fellowships, including:
Dr. Nair will also consider students interested in the NTU-Karolinksa Institute PhD scholarship.

we are happy to host NTU students, as well as students from local institutions in Singapore, under attachment programs and for final-year projects. the lab places a strong emphasis on mentorship and career development and is deeply committed to fostering the next generation of scientists. Dr. Nair himself was previously an undergraduate intern at LKCMedicine and has mentored numerous students across NUS, Caltech and Stanford.
for experimental projects, prior experience with mice is preferred but not required.
undergraduate students from overseas institutions can apply to work in the lab through a few select programs, including:
